ROLF’s Wire collection wins Materialica Design & Technology Award
This is how innovative Tyrol is! The renowned Austrian eyewear manufacturer ROLF receives the Materialica Design + Technology Award for their Wire collection. The ground-breaking eyewear collection, made using a 3D printing process from the fast-growing castor bean, impressed the expert jury and secured first place in the "Product" category. The eyewear models, which impress with their lightness, robustness and durability, make an impressive statement for environmentally friendly products.
"Materialica stands for sustainability and therefore fits in perfectly with us and our corporate values. Coupled with our high design standards, with Wire we have succeeded in creating a product that combines closeness to nature with zeitgeist. Made in Austria, of course." (Roland Wolf, CEO)
A striking feature of the Wire collection are the luminous threads that the eyewear designers use to add artistic accents to their frames. The timeless frame shapes thus become not only stylish accessories, but also a clear commitment to environmental protection. The entire jury of the award was impressed by the unusual choice of materials and impressed by the concept and design. In a highly competitive sector such as the eyewear industry, it is particularly challenging to present something new and innovative, so the sophisticated manufacturing process combined with the optical highlights made the decision in favor of ROLF an easy one.
