Colors In Optics Re-Releases Legendary Stutz Sunglasses
Over 40 years ago optical visionary Sanford Hutton was convinced that vivid colors would elevate ordinary, functional sunglasses to dramatic fashion accessories. In his New York City apartment Hutton and his wife Rhona, Colors in Optics EVP, experimented with scores of dye formulas aiming to create rich fashionable hues for frames. Successful, Hutton then designed his debut colored frame, a slightly oversized vintage P3 sunglass silhouette, naming it Stutz. Stutz’s stunning color range instantly eclipsed the dowdy black, brown, and flesh-toned pink, at that time the only hues available to men and women. In fact, the breakout Stutz was so sensational it landed on the Big Screen in major Hollywood productions.
Hutton’s colorful, rule-breaking creation is forever acknowledged as the concept that revolutionized the global optical industry.
Colors in Optics and Sanford Hutton are re-releasing a Stutz Legends Collection. Today the iconic Stutz, with softly rounded corners and keyhole bridge, flourishes in a kaleidoscope of fashion tones – 12 in all –including Scarlet, Majestic Purple, Tokyo Tortoise, Wheat, Rose, Blue Crystal, Rose, and more, each with complementary colored UV-protective lenses. The Unisex design, flattering to all facial contours, is impeccably engineered and handcrafted in premium Italian acetate.
